Roger Luke DuBois People

R. Luke DuBois is a composer, programmer, and video artist based in New York City; he holds a doctorate in music composition from Columbia University and teaches interactive sound and video performance at Columbia's Computer Music Center, New York University, and the School of Visual Arts. He has done interactive programming and music production for many artists, most recently Toni Dove, Chris Mann, Elliott Sharp, and Michael Gordon, and served as a staff programming consultant for Engine27 during the 2003 season. He is co-author of Jitter, a software suite developed by Cycling'74 for real-time manipulation of matrix data; his music with his band the Freight Elevator Quartet is available on Caipirinha/Sire and Cycling'74 music.

Roger B. Wyatt, Ed. Rohi Mirza Pandya is a multimedia producer and event organizer active in film and theatre; she produced the short film Modern Day Arranged Marriage and the feature Fillum Star: The Peter Patel Story, released worldwide in spring 2004. Ron Ehmke People

Ron Ehmke is a writer, performer and teacher born in the deep south who has lived in the Buffalo area for most of his adult life; over the last 20 years he has curated the Performance program at Hallwalls Contemporary Arts Center, written a column about shopping malls for a media arts publication, and co-produced 100 episodes of the cable access series Snap Judgements with Richard Wicka. His latest ongoing project is Suburban Samizdat, a semi-public/semi-private performance and video series staged in the basement of his home.

Ron Kuivila People

Ron Kuivila is an artist and composer who pioneered the use of ultrasound and sound sampling in live performance; his recent work explores compositional algorithms, speech synthesis and high voltage phenomena. He has collaborated with composers, artists and choreographers and has performed and exhibited installations and concerts throughout the U.S., Canada and Europe. He studied with Alvin Lucier at Wesleyan and with Robert Ashley and David Behrman at Mills College; he was an NEA Fellow at Creative Associates, artist-in-residence at Media Study/Buffalo (1979-80), a 1980 CAPS recipient, and is a Professor of Musicology at Wesleyan who curated Rock's Role (After Ryoanji) at Art in General in 2004.

Ron Rocco People

Ron Rocco studied Fine Arts at SUNY Purchase and advanced technologies at MIT's Center for Advanced Visual Study; he produces performance, installation and Internet works that explore sensation, perception and social roles. He presented performances at the United Nations and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and collaborated with choreographer Mel Wong on Buddha Meets Einstein, sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts in 1985. He held residencies at The Banff Center, Künstlerhaus Bethanien (Berlin) and Kunst & Complex (Rotterdam), with works acquired by the Berlinische Galerie; later projects include Rabinal Achi/Zapatista Port Action and Communicating Vessels.

Ronaldo Kiel People

Ronaldo Kiel received a BA in arts from the Art Institute of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul and an MFA from Brooklyn College; he completed post-graduate study through a CAPES/Fulbright grant that brought him to the USA. His digital video and computer artwork was selected for festivals, international exhibitions and symposiums on art and technology, including the Prix Ars Electronica in Austria and the International Media Art Biennale in Poland; he is currently an Assistant Professor at Brooklyn College. In 2001 Cheng & Kiel premiered D'Invenzione, an interactive four-channel DVD-video installation at SESC Pompeia in São Paulo, and one month later the work was shown at the inaugural Santander Cultural Center exhibition in Porto Alegre, Brazil.

Rosebud Cafe: Overview (1973) Groups

Rosebud Café, founded around 1973, was a community video project linked to the April Video Cooperative (AVC) in Downsville; AVC developed 1/2" videotape as a community communications tool and the group accumulated a library of about 100 tapes, including a 30-minute tape titled The Rosebud Café available from Downsville TV. The project sought cable access on the Delhi system (Newhouse Cable Co.), a public viewing center and a mobile unit with 1/2" equipment to serve as headend, live community studio and mobile TV studio, and discussed a non-commercial channel and originating facilities with Newhouse. The activity is documented in People Visions, Vol. 2 (c.1973) and listed in Radical Software 1973; community comments record plans for drug education, local origination, drop-in space and video training.
