Richard Herskowitz People
Richard Herskowitz has been Artistic Director of the Virginia Film Festival since 1994; previously he directed the Cornell Cinema for twelve years, programming nearly 500 films and special programs annually. He served as adjunct curator at the Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art; authored film commentary; programmed the Robert Flaherty Film Seminar in 1987, 1991 (Riga, Latvia) and 1999; he received an M.A. in film studies from the University of Wisconsin in 1978 and has taught film courses at U.Va., Cornell and Rutgers.
Richard Kostelanetz People
Richard Kostelanetz is an American writer, artist, critic and editor of the avant-garde; he studied at Brown (B.A., 1962), Columbia (M.A., 1966) and King's College, London, and served as a visiting professor or guest artist. In 1971 he produced the formalist novel In the Beginning; his nonfiction The End of Intelligent Writing (1974) charged the New York literary establishment with inhibiting publication of innovative younger authors. He produced visual poetry, issued recordings on his own label, edited works on B.B. King and Philip Glass, made films with Martin Koerber (A Berlin Lost, 1984; Berlin Sche-Einena Jother, 1988), and published A Dictionary of the Avant-Gardes in 1999.

Richard Serra People
Richard Serra, born in San Francisco in 1939, studied at UC Berkeley and Santa Barbara and earned a BA in 1961; he worked in steel mills to support himself and received BFA and MFA degrees from Yale in 1964, followed by a Yale Traveling Fellowship in Paris and a Fullbright year in Florence. His early 1960s work used industrial steel and lead and included a lead-throwing studio piece; later large-scale works include the Torqued Ellipses series (1996—99) and the 60-foot-tall Charlie Brown (1999) erected in a San Francisco office courtyard. He lives in New York and Nova Scotia.

Rita Myers People
Rita Myers is a video artist who received fellowships and grants from the National Endowment for the Arts; the New York State Council on the Arts; the Massachusetts Council on the Arts and Humanities; and the Jerome Foundation. Her work has been exhibited internationally since the early 1970s.
Robb Fladry People
Robb Fladry is an artist working with video and sound; he holds a BFA in studio art and an MA in theatre from Austin Peay State University and is known for video installations and live video performances. He has exhibited works at the Frist Center for the Visual Arts in Nashville, the BEA Festival for Media Arts in Las Vegas, Electronic Language International Festival FILE: Rio de Janeiro 2009 and FILE: SÂo Paulo 2008, and the Digital Fringe Festival in Melbourne; he is the only permanent member of the electronic pop-rock band Art School Romance and performs in the VJ duo [ fladry + jones ] with Barry Jones and the audio/video experiment Synesthesia with Aaron Hutcheson.

Attanasio has been making films and video for over 20 years. Not From Concentrate was included in the Whitney Biennial in 1997. Rubber Crutches was included in Big As Life, a historical retrospective of 8 mm film work in the US at the Museum of Modern Art.
1961 Robert Bell Chronology
The New York State Council on the Arts commissioned Robert Bell to make Watching Ballet, a 16mm film with Jacques D'Amboise and Allegra Kent demonstrating ballet technique. The film, completed in 1963, was used in the Ballet Society's touring educational programs.
Robert Martinez People
Voltage Controlled started in the early 90's when Robert Christopher Martinez and Paris Treantafeles experimented with abandoned technology and analog synthesizers to generate patterns, melodies and rhythmic material without conventional controllers; they produced several audio releases, a weekly TV show and live performances. Originally working together in California, the collaborators later split geographically: Chris remains in California maintaining the main Voltage Controlled studio of electronics, and Paris lives in New York doing freelance computer work. Roberto Bocci People
Roberto Bocci is a multimedia electronic artist born in Siena, Italy; over twenty years his practice moved from painting and photography to computer-driven interactive multimedia installations, including multimedia sound and video installations, single-channel videotapes, photographic images and interactive CD-ROMs for desktop computers. He has exhibited in America, Europe, Japan and Australia and has received fellowships and grants including a Fulbright Fellowship in 1987 and a Woodstock Photography Grant. Roberto Guerra People
Roberto Guerra, born in Lima, is a documentary director, producer and cinematographer who earned an engineering degree from the Universidad Nacional de Ingenieria and worked in Peru, Paris, London and New York; for over twenty-five years he collaborated with Eila Hershon on films including Frida Kahlo (first prize, Montreal Festival of Films on Art) and multi-part series on fashion and design. More than thirty films have been broadcast in over thirty-five countries; with Kathy Brew he produced a Snug Harbor installation (Oct 2001–Jan 2002) and Paradise Now (WNET/Thirteen, Jan 2001), and received Emmy awards in 1999 and 2000.

Rochester Black Film Festival organized by Ombowale Ayorinde. Programming included work by AFrican, Hispanic, African American and other Third World filmmakers. Ayorinde served as Director for 4 years. The Festival was then continued by the Rochester Association of Black Communicators.
