Carl Geiger People

Carl Geiger is an artist, technologist and teacher working in video, photography and computers; he co-founded the Synapse Video Center at Syracuse University and Innervisions Media Systems and works for Enable adapting computers and other technology for people with special needs. In Lafayette, NY, he converted an industrial building called The Creamery into studios and living spaces for artists; his works include Vista Fuel, six half-hour TV shows broadcast in 1995, and Free Flow, a street-level Internet site installation in 1996. He received a Finishing Funds award from the Experimental Television Center, participated in The Pioneers of Digital Photography at Open Space Gallery in Allentown, and performed at the Video History: Making Connections conference at Syracuse University in October 1998.

Carl Loffler People

Carl Loeffler founded the nonprofit La Mamelle in San Francisco in 1975 and began publishing LA MAMELLE MAGAZINE; in 1976 he opened La Mamelle Arts Center at 70 12th St, programming Xerox art, a Judith Barry performance series and conceptual photography exhibitions. In 1977 La Mamelle co-coordinated the SEND/RECEIVE PROJECT with AVALANCHE MAGAZINE, enabling two-way satellite and simultaneous New York–San Francisco cable broadcasts; it later became Art Com, distributed video art and produced cable-TV programming. In 1986 Art Com launched the Art Com Electronic Network (ACEN) on the WELL to host interactive artworks and ART COM MAGAZINE online; Loeffler later served as SIMLAB director at Carnegie Mellon researching tele-existence and VIRTUAL POMPEII.

Carla Ross People

Peter Allen and Carla Ross Allen co-founded KnoWear to explore wearable technology, mass-media and branding in art and design; the collaborative researches emerging digital technologies and uses 3D digital design, CADCAM and rapid prototyping to produce forms and prototypes. KnoWear has shown work at The Cooper Hewitt, National Museums of Scotland and ICFF New York and has been published in Metropolis Magazine, Octangano, The New Yorker and the Skin: Surface, Substance + Design catalog. The group received a 2007 commission from Tyne and Wear Museums (UK) for the Our Cyborg Future exhibition, participated in the 2006 Second Skins show in Essen and completed a six-month Eyebeam MIDAIR residence featured in the 2005 Eyebeam Gallery Show; both founders met at Cranbrook Academy of Art (1998) and maintain the website http://www.knowear.net.

Carol Goss People

Carol Goss made video art at the Experimental Television Center and performed live video synthesis in New York City and San Francisco in the 1970s; Nam June Paik sent her to the Experimental Television Center in 1974 and she co-founded Improvising Artists Records & Video with Paul Bley that year. Her analog program TOPOGRAPHY was exhibited at the Everson Museum in 1976; her practice evolved into digital work in the 1980s and she founded the Not Still Art Festival in 1996 in the Cooperstown region with support from the New York State Council on the Arts and Media Alliance. She has exhibited internationally and lectured at Columbia University, Selcuk Universitesi and the Bunting Institute at Radcliffe/Harvard.

Carol Parkinson People

Carol Parkinson is Director of Harvestworks; the organization was founded in 1977 to cultivate artistic talent using electronic technologies and to encourage the creation and dissemination of digital media artwork. From a central SOHO location and through its Internet presence, Harvestworks provides accessible and coordinated digital media production, education, information and content distribution services to a creative community that includes electronic music composers, interactive media designers, film and video makers, digital tool developers and computer programmers.

Carol Stakenas People

Carol Stakenas is Deputy Director and Curator of Creative Time, New York City's multidisciplinary public arts presenter; she curated and produced public art at the Brooklyn Bridge Anchorage, Times Square and Grand Central Terminal. She created and co-chaired the international seminar Blur 02 Power at Play in Digital Art and Culture and spearheads Creative Time's CyberWide initiative. She served as web advisor to School's OUT: The Naming Project, curated Lo-Fi Baroque at Thread Waxing Space and serves on the boards of the National Association of Artists Organizations (NAAO) and Conjunction Arts.

Carola Dreidemie People

Carola Dreidemie is an Argentine artist residing in the United States whose project All Eyez on U.S. places a camera directly in front of subjects, sometimes intrusively close, producing images that resemble police lineups and anthropological studies; the work addresses xenophobia and racism that fuse otherness with criminality. She holds an MFA from Texas Woman's University, an MFA from Pratt Institute, School of Art and Design, and a BFA from Escuela de Bellas Artes Prilidiano Pueyrredon, Buenos Aires; since 2004 she has taught at the University of Miami in Florida.

Carolee Schneemann is a multidisciplinary artist whose work addresses the body, sexuality and gender; her video, film, painting, photography, performance and installation works have been exhibited at the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, MoMA, the Centre Georges Pompidou and the New Museum, and in a retrospective at P.P.O.W. Gallery, NYC entitled Embodied. Caroline Koebel People

Caroline Koebel is a filmmaker who has exhibited at US venues including Anthology Film Archives, Los Angeles Film Forum, Other Cinema and MadCat Festival and internationally in Brazil, Cuba, Ireland, Thailand and Poland; recent solo screenings include Millennium Film Workshop in NYC and Artist's Television Access in San Francisco. Carolyn Tennant People

Carolyn Tennant holds an MFA from SUNY at Buffalo and a BA (1997) from Hampshire College; additional studies include Squeaky Wheel (2003), Visual Studies Workshop (2002), Mount Holyoke (1993–95), Cornell (1993–94) and the Salt Center for Documentary Field Studies (1994). Since 6/2002 she has been affiliated with the Experimental Television Center (Newark Valley, NY) and from 1/2002 served as Research Assistant for Dr. Zimmermann at Ithaca College, performing copy editing and administrative work. Her Chicago employment included office-manager and receptionist roles; her productions include Fenceline, The Last Hand Loader, Rulloff's Brain, Mazamorreo (recipient of a $10,000 Ill. Humanities Council grant), and the multi-media You Don't Feed Me.

New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) TV/Media program works with seven public television stations to develop the Carousel series; NYSCA funds WNET-TV in New York City for artists in residence Nam June Paik and for the Carousel program. Nam June Paik produced a portion of the Carousel program at the Experimental Television Center, using the Paik/Abe Synthesizer.

Carrie Dashow People

Carrie Dashow is a New York-based artist working in video, performance and new media; her participatory projects use public tools (greeting, island, building, friend, forest, map, history, camera) to create performances, videos and books that examine the subliminal. She co-directs the Society for a Subliminal State with Jesse Pearlman Karlsberg and developed The Subliminal History of New York State, including Under Island and a shape-note singing and "13th screen" tour beginning June 1st; her work has been shown at P.S.1/MOMA, UCLA Hammer Museum and Eyebeam. She holds a BFA from the San Francisco Art Institute (1994) and a Masters in Integrated Electronic Arts from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Cary A. Peppermint People

Cary Peppermint is a conceptual artist and assistant professor of art at Colgate University; he works with digital technologies and performance art and distributes network performances via the website Restlessculture.net. His practice investigates cultural effects of an interconnected, information-based global culture and setting information free through accessible, searchable, database-driven new media; his net.art includes early real-time interactive performances realized via CU-SEEME and early internet browsers. He curated the international exhibitions Technorganic and Wilderness Information Network, received awards including a Franklin Furnace Performance Grant, an Experimental Television Center Workshop Grant, and NYSCA's Decentralization Grant, and his work is held by the Walker Art Center, Rhizome.org at the New Museum for Contemporary Art, The Whitney Museum of American Art, and Computer Fine Arts.

Caspar Stracke People

Caspar Stracke is a German visual artist based in New York City who works in video, film and new media; his works have been shown at institutions including MoMa and The Whitney NY and at international film and media art festivals across North and South America, Europe and East Asia. Cat Mazza People

Cat Mazza is a new media artist based in Troy, New York; her work combines knitting, digital media and labor history. She has exhibited internationally, including Radical Lace and Subversive Knitting at the Museum of Arts and Design (New York), Miniartextil at Arte & Arte (Italy) and FILE (Brazil) and Ars Electronica (Austria), where she received a Digital Communities award. Mazza has lectured as a visiting artist at the Dundee Centre for Contemporary Arts and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago; her work has been written about in the New York Times, KnitKnit and MIT's Leonardo Electronic Almanac; she received a 2007 Rockefeller Re:New Media fellowship for Knitoscope Sampler and a 2007 Finishing Funds award from the Experimental Television Center (http://www.stitchforsenate.us).

Catalina Santamaria People

Catalina Santamaria is a director, editor, cinematographer and photographer; her works include September 11 2002 (Digital, 10 min, 2001), Except my soul (16mm, 13 mns, 2000), Derail (16mm, 8 min, 1998) and the multimedia Echoes Through the Jungle (1993). Derail received the Kodak Cinematography Award, First Place Audience Award at The New Haven Film Festival and the Bogen Tri-pod Award; her films screened at festivals in New Haven, Cartagena, Bogota and Vina del Mar, and her photographs were exhibited in Cambridge (2004), Rayo Museum (2002) and Medellín (1994). She worked freelance as cinematographer, videographer and editor, was full-time photographer for El Diario La Prensa (November 2001–June 2002), and served as 16mm film production teaching assistant at New School for Social Research (September 1997–May 1999).
