C-Men People

Julian van Aalderen (1976) and Sjors Trimbach (1974) graduated from the Academy of Arts and Industry in Enschede at the Media-art department and work as animator/illustrator/graphic-designers and video artists; since 1999 they have performed as the C-men veejays. They re-invented a 16-bit style and are described here as contributing to a retro-80'-videogame-hype; they played in London concurrent with the Game on exhibit. All their work is homemade and played on two Amiga 1200 computers and they alter low-res animations live with the MNU2/3 VJ-tool.

Caitlin Berrigan People

Caitlin Berrigan is an emerging artist working in video, sculpture, performance and interactive art; she is a graphic and web designer by trade and an activist focused on hepatitis C education, media democracy, and gender politics. Her work is underpinned by social change; she examines the medicalized, merchandized and sexualized body and questions representation through encounters between bare flesh and the fantasy of the image, addressing attractions and repulsions to violence, desire and possession via performance, video and intimate objects. Caitlin Jones People

Caitlin Jones holds a combined research position in the Curatorial and Conservation departments at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum; in collaboration with the Daniel Langlois Foundation for Art, Science, and Technology and the Variable Media Network she co-edited Permanence Through Change: The Variable Media Approach and co-curated Seeing Double: Emulation in Theory and Practice at the Guggenheim. She was curatorial assistant for the Deutsche Guggenheim Berlin exhibition Nam June Paik: Global Groove 2004; her writing on variable media preservation and presentation has appeared in a wide range of international publications. Her most recent article, My Art World is Bigger than Your Art World, appears in the December/January issue of The Believer.

Cambria Matlow People

Cambria Matlow is a founding filmmaker of Birdgirl Productions and debuted as a documentary feature director with BURNING IN THE SUN; she initiated production in 2005 after a colleague described a solar energy project in Mali and moved from Vermont to Brooklyn in spring 2006 to work full time. She directed and lensed short narrative films including CHAPSTICK and LET'S DO LUNCH and directed the experimental THE SACRED CLOWN about Che Guevara; she holds a B.A. with Honors from Columbia University and a Certificate in Documentary Film Production from Burlington College.

Camille Utterback People

Camille Utterback (San Francisco) is a pioneering artist and programmer in interactive video installation; her work has been exhibited internationally and is held in collections including The La Caixa Foundation (Barcelona). She received a Transmediale International Media Art Festival Award (2005) and a Rockefeller Foundation New Media Fellowship (2002). She holds a BA from Williams College and a Masters degree from the Interactive Telecommunications Program at New York University Tisch School of the Arts, and has taught in the MFA Design of Technology at Parsons School of Design and in the Interactive Telecommunication Program at New York University.

Other People began in summer 2008 when Delaney Britt Brewer, John Pizza and Candace Thompson convened for improvised interviews. Delaney Britt Brewer is head writer and plays Cricket; she was a 2008-9 Dramatists Guild Fellow and a member of Ensemble Studio Theater's Youngblood, with work produced or workshopped at New York venues. John Pizza is resident art-director and plays Charleyhorse and has performed and exhibited in New York and San Francisco; Candace Thompson is director/editor and plays Cliquot, has produced video and commercial work and is developing the documentary Why We Stay, Why We Go.

CAPS/ICI 1981 Traveling Video Festival was presented by the Creative Artists Public Service Program and Independent Curators Incorporated; a list of presentation venues was compiled and ICI helped to organize a national tour for the first time, with Nina Sundell as ICI curator. The program included works by Skip Blumberg, Peer Bode, Ron Clark, Shalom Gorewitz, Julie Harrison, Neil Zusman, Dean Keppel, Verity Lund, Henry Moore, Antonio Muntades, Rita Myers, David Rose and Joseph Steinmetz; a panel featured Lynn Corcoran, Dieter Froese, Teodoro Maus, Sherry Miller and Arthur Tsuchiya.

Cara Mertes is an advocate for independent media artists and an award-winning filmmaker, programmer, teacher and writer; she joined P.O.V. in 2000 as Executive Director and oversaw the series. As P.O.V. Executive Producer she received 14 national News and Documentary Emmy nominations (five wins), three Peabody Awards, two duPont‑Columbia Awards and two Academy Award nominations; she created P.O.V.'s Borders and executive produced over 70 series-related web sites. Prior to P.O.V. she produced SIGNAL TO NOISE for PBS, produced New Television (1988–1997) and programmed Independent Focus for Thirteen/WNET (1988–1993); she graduated from Vassar College and is Director of the Sundance Institute Documentary Film Program.

Caran Hartsfield People

Caran Hartsfield received an MFA from the Graduate Film Dept. of New York University; her first feature screenplay, Bury Me Standing, was developed at the Cannes Film Festival's Cinefoundation Residency in Paris and workshopped at the Sundance Screenwriter's and Filmmaker's Labs. Bury Me Standing won multiple awards including the 1st Place Richard Vague NYU Alumni Screenwriting Award and the US 2007 Sundance/NHK award, and was slated for production in Summer 2009 starring Mos Def, Kerry Washington and Alfre Woodard. Hartsfield's short films Double-Handed, kiss it up to god and KING earned honors including 2nd Place at Cannes Film Festival - Cinefoundation and the Director's Guild of America Award, and KING screened at Sundance Film Festival 2007.
