1984 SIGGRAPH 1984 Chronology
SIGGRAPH 1984 Video and Computer Art toured multiple venues in Japan, including Meitetsu Hiyakkaten Museum (Aichi), Fujisaki Museum (Miyagi), Yamagata Museum (Kagoshima), Hankyu Museum (Osaka), Daimaru Museum (Kyoto) and Iwaraya Museum (Fukuoka). U.S. venues included Los Alamos National Laboratory (New Mexico), Evergreen College (Washington), Leheigh University (Pennsylvania), Penn State, Tampa Museum, Institute for Media Arts (Boston), North Carolina University and Rochester Institute of Technology; the Canadian venue listed was Ontario Science Cente.

Signals in Syracuse - Video History: Making Connections conference Bibliography
Video History: Making Connections examined three decades of independent video since the late 1960s and opened with Video Rewind, organized by Deirdre Boyle; panels included Paul Ryan, Barbara London (MOMA video curator) and Parry Teasdale, with screenings such as Proto Media Primer (1970) and Calligrams (1970). A concurrent Video Preservation meeting, involving Mona Jimenez and referencing MOMA’s 1991 preservation meeting, addressed cataloging, funding and technical support; David Ross delivered a keynote at Henriks Chapel on Net Art and video’s institutional absorption. Pamela Hawkins organized a Resource Room displaying early analog and digital recording and playback equipment, processors and period publications, and panels treated writing and teaching video history.

Simon Hostettler People
Simon Hostettler is a composer and pianist who has worked across different styles and registers for twenty years; as a freelance composer for theatre companies and contemporary music he is known in Switzerland and internationally. He served as guest composer at the Staatstheater in Stuttgart and the Stadttheater in Bern and has written commissioned works for several theatre groups in Switzerland and abroad. His collaborators include theatre directors Enrico Beeler and Antonia Brix, singers Cassis (b-blush) and Henk Hofstede (Nits), conductor Lorenz Hasler (I Salonisti), and multiple other performers and producers.
Simon Kilmurry People
Simon Kilmurry has served as Executive Director of American Documentary, Inc. since October 2006; he joined AmDoc in 1999 as Managing Director and became Chief Operating Officer in 2000. He worked for ten years at Teachers & Writers Collaborative, ending as Associate Director, and has served as board member and treasurer of Elders Share the Arts and East Harlem Block Schools; he currently serves as treasurer on the board of Teachers & Writers Collaborative. He attended the University of Edinburgh and Columbia University Business School's Institute for Not-for-Profit Management (Executive Program).
Simon Tarr People
Simon Tarr began making films at age eight, creating a strip from taped sandwich bags and projecting it with a shoebox lamp and a magnifying-glass lens; the early film melted on his bedroom wall. His films have screened on every continent (yes, even Antarctica) in hundreds of film festivals. He has taught cinema production at Ithaca College and presently teaches at the University of South Carolina; he served on the Board of directors of the Association of Independent Video and Filmmakers, was a Trustee of the University Film and Video Foundation, and was guest editor of the Journal of Film and Video (Harvesting the Surface: Handcrafted Film at the Turn of the Centuries); website: http://www.berserker-rage.com.
Simone Carneiro People
Simone Carneiro (born 1978) is an Austro-Brazilian mixed media artist based in Vienna; she studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna and works in paintings, collages, audio/video performances and installations. She has produced computer animations since 1998 and worked artistically and professionally with film and video since 2002. In 2004 she was a guest at the ETC with the NY-based audio visual collective Amoeba Technology, where she used and experimented with the available equipment; most recently she is also creating music.

1980 Sixth Ithaca Video Festival Chronology
Sixth Ithaca Video Festival received 372 entries and selected 19 tapes; there was no entry fee and selected tapes were paid. Panelists included Pat Faust (WXXI), Ann Volkes (Anthology Film Archives and Electronic Arts Intermix), Phil Jones (Ithaca Video Project) and Gunilla Mallory Jones (Ithaca Video Project). Artists shown included Anita Thacher, Mimi Martin, Juan Downey, Barbara Sykes, Tom DeFanti, Collectivision, Steina, Alan Powell and Connie Coleman, and Bill Viola; exhibition sites included the Contemporary Arts Center, MIT Video Resources and libraries and museums in 13 other cities and across NYS, with support from the NYSCA and NEA.
Skip Battaglia People
Skip Battaglia is a filmmaker and animator whose films and animations have been honored in Japan, England, Germany, Canada, Netherlands, Portugal, Mexico and at Cannes; he travels internationally as a guest speaker and lecturer. In 1994-95 he received a Fulbright-Hays Teaching and Research Grant to teach film animation design and production at the Universidad de Guadalajara, Mexico; he holds an M.S. in Television-Radio from Syracuse University and a B.A. in English and Philosophy from Boston College, and has taught 16mm film production, animation, scriptwriting and aesthetic courses to undergraduate and graduate students at RIT since 1987.
