  3. Julia Meltzer People

    Julia Meltzer is a media artist and executive director of Clockshop, a Los Angeles non-profit production company; her work is realized in video, installation, and performance/presentations. Her video works include State of Emergency: Inside the L.A.P.D. (Canner/Meltzer, 30 min, 1993), Room Service (15 min, 1994), Conversation Piece (20 min, 1997), and It's not my memory of it (Speculative Archive, 25 min, 2003); installations include Baggage Claim (1997-98). Her work has been exhibited and broadcast at Creative Time's Art in the Anchorage, The New Museum of Contemporary Art (New York), Mass MOCA (West Adams, Massachusetts), Forum Stadpark (Graz, Austria), the Dutch Electronic Arts Festival (Rotterdam, the Netherlands), and on select PBS stations.

    Julia Tell holds a BA from Bennington College and an MFA from California College of Arts and Crafts; her exhibitions and festival screenings include Dallas International Film Festival, Input 2000 (nova Scotia), Black Maria Film and Video Festival (NJ), Southwest Film Festival (TX) and AIVF DC Salon. She has received support from the New York State Commission on the Arts, DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities, the Roy Dean Film Grant and the Film Arts Foundation.

    Julian Bleecker is a technology designer who has worked on mobile and networked systems and on human-machine entanglements; he co-created PDPal with Marina Zurkow and Scott Paterson, a psychogeography mapping project for the web and Palmô PDA devices installed in the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden at the Walker Art Center and in Times Square, New York City. He serves as Engineer-in-Residence at Eyebeam Atelier producing a WiFi toolkit for art-technology projects, consults on networked, wireless and mobile systems for MTV and VH1, and teaches in the Design and Technology Department at Parsons School of Design while writing and lecturing on technology and culture.

  6. Julie Gustafson People

    Julie Gustafson is a pioneering video-documentary maker who produced several major documentaries for public television; in 1978 she became co-director, with John Reilly, of Global Village and co-founded the Documentary Film Festival of New York. Her social-issue work includes the 60-minute public-television film Abortion: Across the Barricades and national PBS broadcasts Giving Birth, Pursuit of Happiness, and Casting the First Stone. Born in 1949, she holds a B.A. from Brandeis, received a Guggenheim Fellowship and a National Endowment for the Arts grant, and lives in New Orleans.

    Julius Vitali is Executive Director of Open Space Gallery in Allentown and a printmaker and interdisciplinary performing and visual artist who has worked with Hempstead Harbor Gallery (Glen Cove) and August House (Easton); he co-curated the traveling exhibition Pioneers of Digital Photography and authored the 2003 revised edition of The Fine Artist's Guide to Marketing & Self-Promotion (Allworth Press, NYC). He received awards from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, the Adolph and Esther Gottlieb Foundation and a National Endowment for the Arts commission with Painted Bride Art Center; his work has been exhibited at Muse Gallery (Philadelphia), Sea Cliff Gallery and the Franklin Institute and is held in collections including the Bibliothèque Nationale (Paris) and Polaroid Corporation.

  9. Jung Hee Choi People

    Jung Hee Choi is an artist working in painting, drawing, video, photography, sculpture and multi-media installations with exhibitions in New York City, Germany and Korea; her work investigates perception, being and consciousness and led her to develop television projects. She is founding producer and director of Mantra TV, with programs she produced streamed since September 2001. She became a disciple of La Monte Young and Marian Zazeela in 1999, presented RICE in May–June 2003 at the MELA Dream House (chosen among Artforum’s 10 Best of 2003) and received a Finishing Funds 2006 award from the Experimental Television Center.

    Justin Wiggan works with phonics, text, film, object changing and drawing to produce interface solutions to problems he has identified; his artefacts and documents respond to shouts, screams, shrieks, wails, hoots, howls, death rattles and sobs absorbed by unfinished urban structures. He reports responding and disappearing in the swollen bellies of cityscapes while discovering links between the internal tourist and the external explorer; he critiques modernisation and repetitive consumer aisles and argues that visual culture relegates sound to warning signals.
