Inter-Media Art Center: History of IMAC Groups

Inter-Media Art Center, Inc. (IMAC) is a publicly supported non-profit media and performing arts center in Huntington, Long Island, serving New York State public and non-profit arts, educational and social service communities. Founded in 1974 with a New York State Council on the Arts grant as the first non-profit Media Arts Center on Long Island, IMAC moved to Bayville in 1976 to develop multi-camera studios and editing facilities and returned to Huntington in 1983 to occupy a converted movie palace balcony. IMAC received support from the National Endowment for the Arts, the New York State Council on the Arts and county cultural offices and was designated a Primary Organization in 1983; Michael Rothbard and Kathy Bodily are named.
