Interview with Jud Yalkut Interview

Jud Yalkut, an experimental filmmaker whose films and inter-media events have been exhibited at the Everson Museum, discusses his practice working in film and videotape and his collaboration with Nam June Paik beginning in 1965; he mixes film and video through editing, superimposition and generational transfers and employs hand-held camera work, high-speed and time-lapse photography and single-frame techniques. He emphasizes dislocating ordinary perception to create layered, multi-image, non-narrative works—examples include Video Film Concert and the robot sequence in P*AxI-K—and cites influences such as McLuhan, Stan Brakhage and Eisenstein.
