Peter Kerlin

Peter Kerlin is a musician/sound artist/educator. His ongoing musical projects include playing the upright bass in Minetta, creating custom software for improvised performance with his band, Christmas Decorations. As a bass guitarist he has also recorded and performed with Ted Leo/Pharmacists, the Sumerians, and the Holy Childhood of which he was a longtime member.

He has been collaborating with his wife, choreographer, Anna Sperber, making sound scores for the past 4 years. Their evening length work, the Tiger Situation, was presented in March '07 at Dance Theater Workshop. He worked as a video associate for the Builders Association on their multi-media theater work Supervision. Peter holds a BA in Film and Video from RISD and a Masters from the Interactive Telecommunications Program (ITP) at NYU where he is an adjunct professor. www.peterkerlin.net.

    New York-based interactive artist and designer David Hindman will develop an interactive musical performance piece using custom designed hardware and software; described as The Public Instrument-Controlled Video Game Competition, the work incorporates new music, software, and musical gaming interfaces and will be performed in November 2009 at The Annex (NYC) and in December 2009 at The Tank (NYC). Hindman is a regular contributor to the New Instruments for Musical Expression Conference (NIME), appeared as a guest speaker at the 2007 O'Reilly Emerging Technology Conference in San Diego, is a graduate of NYU's ITP program, and maintains the website http://www.davidhindman.com/.

    Jeremy D. Slater is a sound artist who also works with video and sound in performance and installation settings; he uses his laptop computer to create sound, image, and interactive work. He was one of the 1999 recipients of the Computer Art Fellowship from the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) and has exhibited and performed nationally and internationally; websites: http://www.jeremyslater.net and http://www.parenthesismedia.com.

  • Nick Hallett People

    Nick Hallett is a musician and curator working at the intersection of sound, moving image, and live performance; his work includes singing across new-music genres, composing for film and theater, and staging new-media performance. He originated the band PLANTAINS (2000–2003) as a live multimedia act combining electronic music and video, and made his New York opera debut in 2005 in Susie Ibarra’s Shangri-La at The Kitchen, where he presented concerts and sang Arthur Russell material in 2008; he performed Meredith Monk selections at Performa07 and the New Museum. He co-curates the Darmstadt series, produces and curates music for the Joshua Light Show, and has two music-theater works in development with Jessica Blank and Shana Moulton.

  • Bryan Wolf People

    Bryan Wolf (born Detroit 1960) is a composer, sound projectionist, sound artist and live-electronics specialist who studied organ and composition at Kalamazoo College and continued composition studies at the Musikhochschule Stuttgart in 1987. He has performed across Europe, North America, Asia and South Africa with orchestras including Staatsorchester Stuttgart and the Dutch Radio Symphony Orchestra. He worked with Karlheinz Stockhausen from 1989 and has been Stockhausen's personal sound projection assistant since 1998; he heads the class for sound and spatial design at Pforzheim University.

  • Bart Woodstrup People

    Bart Bridger Woodstrup (born 1973) is a computer musician and MFA candidate in the Integrated Electronic Arts Program at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York; he studies under Pauline Oliveros, Neil Rolnick, and Curtis Bahn. He applies formal visual-arts training, computer programming, and sensor data to generate real-time audio and video synthesis and to create video as visual support for his compositions. He has taught at the Illinois Institute of Art at Schaumburg and Northern Illinois University, worked in the Experimental Television Center Residency Program, and presented at SEAMUS, Siggraph, and ISEA.
