Natalia Almada (Women Direct 25th Anniversary featured filmmaker) is a documentary filmmaker based in Mexico and New York City. Her work is dedicated to making innovative, thought-provoking documentaries that explore cross-cultural issues. Her first documentary, the experimental production All Water Has a Perfect Memory, received numerous awards and is currently broadcast on the Sundance Channel and distributed by Women Make Movies. Al otro lado, a documentary about corridos, immigration, and drug trafficking, was shot by Chuy Chavez. The General is a personal historical documentary presently under development about the legacy of President Plutarco Elias Calles as told through his daughter and his great-granddaughter, the filmmaker. Almada is also a professional film editor for long-form documentaries. She works bilingually in Spanish and English.
