Christian Marclay

A New York based visual artist and composer, Marclay's work explores the juxtaposition between sound recording, photography, video and film. Born in California and raised in Geneva (Switzerland), he studied sculpture at the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston and at Cooper Union in New York. As performer and sound artist Christian Marclay has been experimenting, composing and performing with phonograph records and turntables since 1979 to create his unique "theater of found sound."

A dadaist DJ and filmmaker, his installations and video / film collages display provocative musical and visual landscapes and have been included in exhibitions at the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, Venice Biennale, Centre Pompidou, Paris, Kunsthaus Zurich, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. http://www.mcachicago.org

    David Galbraith is a New York–based composer, performer and media artist working in sound installations, video, software and performances with self-built analog electronics. Composition 2005 No. 1 was shown at Diapason and is slated for a Diapason DVD; he received a 2006 Finishing Funds grant from the Experimental Television Center/NYSCA for lgOpre and enhanced it at STEIM in 2007. His work has been exhibited at P.S.1/MoMA, New Museum and KW Institute; he holds an M.F.A. (California Institute of the Arts, 1996) and a B.S. (University of Wisconsin-Madison, 1988).

    Thomas Comerford is a media artist, musician and educator based in Chicago; he teaches film production and advises at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. His films have screened at the London Film Festival, Ann Arbor Film Festival, Thaw, Chicago Filmmakers, Cinematexas and Images Festival in Toronto, and in an international pinhole photography exhibit at the Visual Studies Workshop in Rochester, NY; in June 2002 he conducted a 26-show film tour across the midwest, eastern and southern US with filmmaker Bill Brown.     Daniel Boord is a second-generation video artist who collaborated with Argentine artist Luis Valdovino and filmmaker Greg Durbin to explore cultural identity and everyday life through what critic David Antin calls homeless narratives. His works were screened at La Biennale di Venezia in 2000 and 2003 and broadcast on WNET (New York) and WGBH (Boston). His works are held by The Museum of Modern Art (New York) and the Everson Museum (Syracuse, NY) and have been exhibited at festivals including Toronto and Edinburgh.
