Bradley Eros

A catalyst actively involved in myriad aspects of the diverse New York/East Village experimental film demi-monde for 20 plus years. Initiating, exhibiting, & curating at a multitude of ephemeral spaces and long-lasting venues, collectives & festivals, including various micro-cinemas, clubs, galleries and storefronts: ABC No Rio, Naked Eye Cinema, Film Crash, The Cinema of Transgression, The Filmmakers' Co-op, Conspiracies/Downtown/Mix/and the NY Underground Film Festivals, Film Charas, Kino (8th Floor), Firefly Cinema (6 & B garden), the Opium Den, and Ocularis. Shown at and curated with: Whitney Museum, MoMA, Exit Art, the Kitchen, Millennium, Collective for Living Cinema, Anthology Film Archives, and most especially, Robert Beck Memorial Cinema at Collective Unconscious.

Intimate collaborations with Aline Mare (as Erotic Psyche), Jeanne Liotta (Mediamystics), the Alchemical Theatre, Circle X, and presently, kinoSonik, an expanded cinema group from Ocularis. Created dozens of 'zines, posters, soundtracks & film performances in the unfixed universe of ephemeral cinema. He has worked in the Residency Program at Experimental Television Center and also received Finishing Funds awards from ETC.

  • Jeanne Liotta - Film Studies People

    Jeanne Liotta (b. NYC 1960) is a filmmaker and media artist active since 1987; her first super-8 film Blue Moon was made for the Filmer's Almanac. She collaborated with Bradley Eros and worked with The Living Theatre and Circle X; her work has screened at International Film Festival Rotterdam and MoMA, and her film Loretta screened in New York Film Festival Views from the Avant-Garde. She has received awards from Harvestworks and the Experimental Television Center, was a MacDowell Colony fellow in Fall 2002, has taught at The New School and Pratt, and researched the Joseph Cornell collection at Anthology Film Archives.

    Nhieu Do studied Film/Video at The University of the Arts in Philadelphia during 2002-04; Do creates movies that experiment with perception by using the camera to explore different ways of looking at a person, a place, an object or a theme to transcend the ordinary and to gain an idea of how the mind perceives the outside world.     Sara Hornbacher, Guest Editor, frames eleven articles and reviews and includes Barbara Londons Selected Chronology covering 196393 to outline the brief history of video art. Contributors examine technological and institutional change, including Benjamin Buchloh on developments since the mid-1960s; Katherine Dieckmann on Electra at the Mus6e d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris (1984); Lucinda Furlong on image-processed video and Nam June Paik and the marketing of portable video equipment by SONY/Japan; and the rise of media centers funded by state and federal agencies and university programs. Hornbacher is a visual artist, curator and artist-in-residence at The Experimental Television Center, Owego, New York, since 1976.

  • Les LeVeque People

    Les LeVeque is an artist living in New York City who over the last decade has produced videos and video installations exploring the cultural implications of technological change; recently he has made short videos and installations that transform deturned Hollywood movies into visual psychedelia. His work has been screened throughout the US and Europe, including the New York Video Festival, Sundance Film Festival and Ars Electronica; he has been recognized by the San Francisco International Film Festival and the Black Maria Film and Video Festival, and his work is available from Video Data Bank.
